A TeamBuildr alternative when you coach one team
TeamBuildr is good software. It is also priced for an athletic department, and a lot of the coaches who land on its pricing page are running a single squad out of one weight room with no budget line at all. This page is for those coaches.

Read from each vendor's published pricing page; TeamBuildr, Volt and CoachMePlus re-checked 26 August 2026. PLT4M does not publish a rate card; the figure quoted is the starting price stated on its pricing page. These are the flat annual fees — what they work out to per athlete on a real roster is a different and more useful number.

Where the difference bites
At department scale the per-athlete numbers converge. TeamBuildr's Gold tier works out around $6 per athlete per year at its 250-profile ceiling, which is hard to beat and not what this page is arguing with.
The gap is at the bottom. One varsity squad of thirty sits inside TeamBuildr's smallest tier, so a coach with thirty kids pays the same $900 as a coach with fifty. The same thirty athletes on EatSleepRep's Squad plan cost $249. If that difference is the reason you are reading a comparison page at 11pm, that is the whole answer and you can stop here.
Where TeamBuildr is still the right call
It has been built for strength staff for years and the depth shows. If you need an athlete management layer, force-plate or velocity hardware feeding your sessions, or you are buying for several sports and a full-time strength coach, buy the thing that was designed for that. EatSleepRep has none of it and is not pretending to.
Two more honest ones. TeamBuildr publishes tiers up to 1,000 profiles; EatSleepRep's largest plan covers 400. And TeamBuildr has a track record with programs like yours, where this is a new product whose first teams are joining now.
What you get here that you would not get there
The athlete's whole day, not just the lift. An EatSleepRep athlete logs food, sleep and training in the same place, because a missed session is usually the third symptom of a kid sleeping five hours and eating once. You see the sleep and the consistency alongside the numbers on the bar.
Athletes never pay, ever, on any plan. And the ranking excludes body composition by design: there is no board that sorts your roster by bodyweight or body fat, because a team of teenagers ranked by weight is how you cause an eating disorder. Nutrition is scored against each athlete's own targets, so a 250 lb lineman and a 105 lb gymnast can both score 100.
Try it with one team
Make a team, put this week's sessions up, and text the join code to your athletes. Nothing to install for you, no card to start, and if it is not for you the team deletes in one click and every athlete keeps their own log.
Common questions
For one team, yes, and by a lot. TeamBuildr’s entry Silver plan is $900 a year for up to 50 athletes; EatSleepRep’s Squad plan is $249 a year for up to 30. At larger rosters the per-athlete cost of the two products is much closer, and TeamBuildr publishes tiers up to 1,000 profiles where EatSleepRep tops out at 400.
No. On every EatSleepRep plan the athletes on a paid roster get the full app free, and they keep their own log if they leave the team.
There is no import from another platform. You would rebuild your sessions from the movement library or type them in, which for one team is an evening, not a project.
More in this series
- Cost per athlete, every published price — The whole category divided by its roster caps, then divided again by a roster of thirty — which reverses the order.
- What "plans start at $500" leaves out — A floor with no tiers, no roster cap and no ceiling, and what that does to a budget line.
- The assistant coach bill — TrainHeroic charges $9.99 a month per assistant on top of the athlete tier. What a staff of four costs.
- Volt's two price sheets — The same plan and the same roster cap cost $900 on one page of Volt's site and $1,200 on another.
- When nobody lists a price — BridgeAthletic, Teamworks and PLT4M will not quote without a call. Five questions that turn a demo into a number.
- Choosing for a high school — Mixed phones, summer, subs, and the parent who asks what the app collects.
- What "free" actually means — Trial, free tier and free-for-athletes are three different things.
All eight are listed on the for-coaches index.
